BattleLore: Command App Reviews

This game could be perfect but the enemy "rolls" are far superior. Ive gone 3 rounds in a row with all misses. So maybe its just my luck but seems its very favored to the bad guys in an unrealistic way. Other than that the style and strategy are awesome.

What a joke

If you hate your phone and have an extra $10 then I highly recommend this game. It will take your money then proceed to encourage you to break your phone in the most imaginative of ways! Seriously, the dice fall in favor of the cpu every time. Any win is a lucky win regardless of your strategy considering the cpu will likely wipe out your forces every match. I absolutely love this game and was really looking forward to the mobile version. Im highly disappointed that I get maybe 2 kills in a match. Three on a good day. Im deleting the app, but Im not asking for my money back. Maybe they can use that money to make the game fair...

Needs async multi user support

This is a great game. But you cant save a game and you cant have have an async online game. If they add these missing features - it would be the best board game adoption done digitally.

Great, but...

Great game. I would enjoy it and play it all the time... if it were possible to save an unfinished game or with auto-save. A game can be long, half an hour or more, so I find myself most of the time not starting one because I am afraid not to have time to finish it. Consequence: I almost never play Battlelore even if I like it a lot and find the app exquisitely implemented. Please update the game to add this necessary feature!

fun but flawed adaptation of the game

Campaign is fun. The biggest problem is that combat plays out too SLOW - when its the enemys turn I just put my iPad down for a minute and then come back and see which of my units survived until the part of the game where I actually get to PLAY again. This game oddly seems to be ashamed of its board game roots - the dice are abstracted as a unit having a "17% chance" of something coming up. The interface is a little clunky, especially for stuff like skipping your archers movement so theyll get a bonus attack. The game loves to rotate the camera wildly to show off two units that are fighting each other from a sexy angle, but this makes it needlessly difficult to tell what side of the board is which. If youre a fan of the original board game version, be warned that supposedly some units abilities have been oversimplified.

Can not progress by an error. 先に進めません。

After the tutorial, I cant proceed to the next stage. Tapping a blue frag in a map shuts down the game. Im using iOS 8.1.3 on iPad Air 2. チュートリアルの先に進めません。青い旗をタップするとゲームが落ちます。

Cool boardgame

Cool game though it crashes too often. 2 minutes ago i managed to cope with the 10hp boss and all that happened was the app crash. Too bad((((

We want more!

Awesome game, ty. Its so good that we want even MORE. More armies, more missions, more everything. Guys, you rock. PS can we hope to see Scottish dwarves?

Great game!

Another amazing game from FFG! A must buy!

This game is Really difficult.

Really? Cant get past second battle. Absurdly unfair odds. AI always wins. Otherwise it would be awesome. I dont mind a challenge, but this is just stupid. Update: Wait wait. It gets better. I try again, because I really enjoy tactics games and I want to be able to like this game. I finally start to get a slight advantage over the opponent. What does the AI do? It plays a defensive Lore that, after at least 6x replaying this same battle, Ive never seen before: "move your opponents forces at random." Random my foot! It moved only the units that had Lore buffs and were about to defeat some enemies. I call SHENANIGANS! Update: Played two more rounds since last update and... Drum roll... FINALLY vanquished the enemy. My trick: always double up your units to support each other and pin the enemy as much as possible. You get much more successful rolls when the enemy is pinned. The difficulty level is pretty high in this game, but I kept going back for more. I guess I like the abuse.

Would be a 5 star but.....

The AI here is way to unbalanced, played 20 games on the light the fires scenario and I am hitting about 10% of the time! Vs the AI of about 90%. Have yet to get past it, but this kind of stonewall is not fun. Putting it aside until it is hopefully fixed.

Excellent strategy game

I was so excited to see one of the boardgames in the commands and colors series ported to iOS. This is a great port and a really fun game. Those who complain about the dice rolls or difficulty need to become more familiar with how to play the game well to mitigate unlucky rolls, which is a big part of the the strategy for the boardgame itself. I hope this release leads to a port of this games cousin, Memoir 44!

Needs an update

Crashed on me 3 times today, twice as I was about to complete a long mission. Mid-mission saves are needed. FFG, you’re off to a good start with this app, but it needs some serious tuning. I’m using a mini retina model, so I shouldn’t be experiencing these constant crashes.

Amazing title, needs some fixes

I truly want to give this game the full 5 stars but one thing is holding me back. It crashes pretty consistently on my iPhone 6+ and when the app goes down theres no picking up mid-game. You have to start over. If it werent for that I would gladly give it 5 stars. Its a lot of strategic fun and very polished when it comes to graphics, menus, and sound. Please fix the game so I can enjoy frustration free. Also, it doesnt beat you over the head with IAPs. You pay for a product and thats what you get. Thank you!

The game seems like it will be fun but there are two fundamental problems... * No way to get terrain information until after movement. Knowing for example that a forest limits attack dice is very important to know before hand. * No way to save mid game. This is a deal breaker for me. For iPad games I dont usually have more than a couple of minutes at a time to play. That means I will NEVER finish a game.

A fun game but rolls seems to be skewed

Being a fan of the boardgame this was a must buy for me. The game is great though I wish there was an undo spell selection. Numerous times I have looked at a spell to review it and then went to exit out only to cast the spell. It has actually cost me a few mission losses. But my biggest complaint is the skewed die rolls. They seem to favor the enemy more, and i have played the boardgame. Ive looked at probability of the rolls in the help menu. Ive played this about 20 times and cant even get past mission 2 because of these rolls. The enemy archers wipe me out before i can close the distance and my archers cant seem to hit the broadside of a barn. Its only a 16% chance for my archers to hit, but the enemy should be the same unless they get poison to proc.

Almost Brilliant, but balance is way off

I liked my first few scenarios, but the more I played the more frustrating it got. It took me 6 tries to beat the fourth scenario. The Uthak seem seriously overpowered. And the die rolling is very tilted towards the enemy. Is this how they sought to make up for a weak AI? The red team hits almost every time, while the blue team whiffs constantly. I know random results include "runs", but this has been going on since I started, so 10-12 games so far. I hope they can balance it with an update at some point.

Frustrating and incomplete

No async multiplayer option for an overpriced game? Weak. But my biggest complaint is that the scenarios and attack results are grossly skewed to shore up the middling AI. Theres a fine game waiting to emerge after some sorely needed updates.

Love it, but dice rolls super frustrating

Seriously, unless I seriously dont understand the dice, the rolls seem way out of line. I am constantly whiffing completely and the ai is getting hits every roll. This is not fun. Otherwise, the game seems fantastic. I hope they fix this in an update soon.

UNPLAYABLE

The game is fun, but unbelievably slow paced. It takes 15-25 minutes for a skirmish with a total of 6 turns. And this is amplified by the fact that the game is difficult. So if you lose near the end of that 20 minutes for a scenario, youre having to play through the same painstakingly slow process all over again. GLITCH: On like the 6th stage of the game, once you beat the first boss Ravos, the game shuts down completely and you go back to the beginning of the scenario. It took me 8-10 tries to actually beat the 30 minute skirmish and then I finally win and it SHUTS DOSN AND DOESNT SAVE. So with my strategy in hand I beat it two more times and both times it shuts down the second you take Ravos last life away. UNPLAYABLE. PLEASE FIX.
